Week 2 Story: The Man Who Live on the Moon

Image
There is a man who has just entered a private college. His family is poor, therefore, he always worries about his tuition.  In a serene afternoon, he sits on the bench in the campus garden. The sunshine is warm, and the flowers are eloquent. He enjoyed the scene but felt anxious about his future. He pondered whether he could have a successful future, although he could never imagine what kind of job he really likes.  Surrounding by the comfortable environment, he drifted off to sleep. In his dream, he met a wise man, and he expressed that he was stocked in reality and could not find a way out.  He said, "I want to be an internet celebrity. I envy their carefree, abundant, wealthy life." The wise man agreed to him and said, "be a successful Internet celebrity."  After being a successful internet celebrity, he thought about how to make more compelling videos all day and all night. He found the subscriptions and views are so important to him cause that means money to hi

Reading Notes: Week 2 Anthology

This story comes from Laos in Southeast Asia. Story source : Laos Folk-Lore by Katherine Neville Fleeson (1899). The Man in the Moon      The plot of this story is concise and succinct. It mainly describes two man's dialogue - a wise man, and a man who was once a blacksmith. The man who was a blacksmith always complains about his identity. He wants to be stone, cutter, sun and moon since he only sees the short-termed benefit. The weakness of the blacksmith is his greed. The wise man realizes his requirements once and once again, and he is weary.      In terms of style, the repetition is used in this story. The author shows the reason why the blacksmith wants to be other things. I think this kind of style also shows the characteristic of the character successfully. It foregrounds the greediness of the blacksmith.            In my opinion, the most difficult part for me is how to start a story. The story begins through introduce one of the characters in this story. I think I can use

Time Strategies

Image
Time management for me is very crucial since it can influence my performance in each semester. I think the most important point when we manage our time is to go ahead of schedule and do not wait until the deadline. When we do each task and assignment spontaneously, we will find that jobs become easier than before because we have plenty of time to finish them. However, the biggest challenge for me is that I need to stick to my plan, keep my own pace and never give up. Eat The Frogs First Thing in The Morning Why Time Management is Running our Lives      These are very useful sources for me. One of the authors has mentioned that we need to finish the most difficult thing in a day as soon as possible. In my opinion, this is an effective suggestion for me since people would have more energy and vitality in the morning. So, maybe I would try this method in this semester. Another author has mentioned that people should increase their personal productivity in order to improve their ef

Technology information

After reading the instruction provided by the teacher, I already familiar with some of the technology tools. In this class, I need to use many internet tools outside of canvas to study which is a really good chance for me to improve my personal skills. For me, creating my own blog is an exciting thing to do. After I came to American, I always heard people talk about something about the blog, now I have my own blog.       A little tip for the browser using: Pin the website which you always need to use.  Technology. Assignments' information

For me, the long term project and the storytelling project are impressed me. I feel excited to create and finish them. Besides, this is my first time to try a "real" online course (cause last semester every student took online courses since COVID-19), so I feel interesting about all stuff in this class. Lots of short or middle tasks are full of every week which is not similar to other courses. But I think I prepare to face the challenge. In extra credit options, the microfiction grabs my attention. Maybe I would try to write some funny stories through this semester. Alpaca. Web Source: Pininterest .

Growth Mindset

Image
Thinking about Growth Mindset     After I watch the video of Carol Dweck, I would like to say that I am interested in the topic Growth Mindset. It looks like Professor Dweck provides a better way to our educational system in order to teach and raise our students. Actually, I have heard about similar theory when I was in China, my middle school Chinese teacher always like to say that the result is not important but the process is the most important thing. Obviously, no one could achieve her goal, since the social environment in China only thinks a lot of the grade of students and the result.       However, I still think that the growth mindset and move out from our confront zone are really important to all students. The reason for that is those two thoughts could help us think deeply and thoroughly. In my opinion, there are many students who are too eager to get full A in every semester, but they forget the original intention of study which is to pursue the knowledge and improve oursel

Taiwei Chang's Introduction

Taiwei Chang's Introduction     I am a transfer student from China, and I always believe that go to study abroad is the best choice that I have ever made in my life. For now, I am an economics student, and this is the second year that I came to OU. In my opinion, there are lots of cool things in my major. For example, we need to learn the regularity of economic phenomena, the role of the government, businessman and citizens, and how to fix economic problems in our society.      I would also like to show you some of my favorite things. In terms of food, it is highly suggested that the Hot Pot in China. I am sure many foreigners who also indulge in Hot Pot. Then, I would like to recommend to you my favorite movie which is called Flipped. The movie tells a beautiful story between two young people. In the beginning, they dislike each other, and there are some contradictions between them. However, a good soul would always attract the other one.  Chinese Hot Pot. Web Source: I am a Food

Storybook Favorites

 1. Meet the Monsters that Haunt America https://sites.google.com/view/americanmonsters/home        I am unfamiliar with the topic of this story. However, it does a good job to tell me what the storybook is about.       The introduction uses a creative style of communication to show a part of the topic. I think it is very good to attract my attention since the author shows some background information via these dialogue. It also do a good job to explain the topic. Although there are not direct description about monsters in the introduction, but the reader will easy to realize that.      The author use may twine story to show his whole strory. He allows readers to make their own decision and influence the whole storytelling. In my opinion, this is really good way to help each reader to indulge in the story, so I could also use the same way to tell my own story probably.  2. The Four Beauities of China https://sites.google.com/site/thefourbeautiesofchina/     I am familiar with the topic

Phuket Island - My favorite place

Phuket Island - My favorite place     In 2017, I went to Phuket Island in Thailand. I was impressed by the temple at that place. They are mysterious and serene. Many local people go to the temple as a way of life for a long time. Meanwhile, these temples are also open to tourists and scholars from different places in the world.   Temple in Phuket Island.
